What kind of problems can you treat?Acupuncture and integrative medicine can assist in the treatment of a wide range of problems, including severe osteoarthritis, chronic pain, nerve dysfunction, paralysis, seizures, immune disorders, skin conditions, behavioral problems, heart disease, renal insufficiency, hepatic dysfunction, lung disease, eye and ear problems and many others. It can even provide relief of side effects from chemotherapy and improve both quality and quantity of life for cancer patients.
To find out whether your pet's condition can benefit and what you may expect from treatment, please contact me today. I am happy to consult with you by phone to see if the services offered by Living Balance would be the best option for your pet. My primary goal is always to help you find the most effective treatment available for your pet's individual situation. Will these treatments work for my pet?Although not every patient will experience a profound response to acupuncture, laser and/or herbal therapy, many do. In general, the majority of patients can expect significant life-improving results, and 10-15% may even experience a remarkable improvement or complete recovery, depending on severity of the underlying problem and how long it has been going on. Only about 5-10% of patients fail to respond at all.
Not only are these treatments highly effective, they are also gentle and have a wide margin of safety. Negative side effects are rare, and when they do occur, they tend to be mild and do not require treatment. How many treatments will my pet need?In general, the shorter the duration, the faster a condition can respond to treatment. For acute conditions, we expect to see some improvement within the first 1-3 treatments. For more chronic conditions, we usually need about 4-6 weekly treatments before seeing the full response. Problems that are long-standing or structural (like arthritis) may take a bit longer to respond initially, and often require maintenance therapy.
Does it hurt? What if my pet is afraid or doesn't like needles? All treatments are gentle and tailored according to each individual patient's temperament. Although most patients become very relaxed or fall asleep during treatment, those that are nervous can usually still be treated by using smaller and fewer needles, treating first with laser to relieve pain and relax the patient before acupuncture, or simply starting with herbal therapy for a few weeks in very severe cases.
Can you perform other services such as bloodwork, x-rays or vaccinations? No. All services provided by Living Balance are designed to work closely with the wellness, surgical and diagnostic care provided by your primary care veterinarian. After each treatment, I will send a detailed report to your veterinarian, and in some instances may recommend that you return to your veterinarian for regular testing, further evaluation, or other intervention as needed.
Do you have night and/or weekend appointments?Yes! Evening and weekend appointments are available for your convenience. If you have a challenging schedule, I will do everything in my power to accommodate you.
